Hello, My name is Monica Ramirez, I am an alumnus from the 2004 Senior Class. It was recently brought to my attention, that because of some "new policy" the paintings on the walls throughout the school are being covered in stark white to help better the learning environment. I have to seriously question that the murals throughout the school are doing anything other than boosting the moral of the school as well as increasing school spirit. Our School has not always had the BEST team in all sports, but when it comes to SPIRIT we have got it NUMBER 1!! My largest concern quite honestly isn't the entire school, I understand that at some point we have to make some changes and adjust to new rules and regulations. But I am also aware of the fact that some of the murals in the school are just PARTS of the school,i.e the Cafeteria Mural  painted by the class of '72 or '73 (not too sure)which is a substatial time for a "painting" to be in a school. The Cafeteria wouldn't be the same without it. I don't exactly know what there is to do about it but I do hope that maybe bringing it to someone's attention, to let someone know that we actually do STILL care about the school. I hope that in some way I can get the word out that this is going to happen and that I believe it needs to be stopped. I feel so hopeless I hope we can get some word out. And Finally forgive me for seeming so frazzled I just don't know another route. Thank you in advance for any ideas or concerns you can share with me, or just simply for your consideration and time for reading this. Monica Ramirez 2004

I just got a message from Ms. Goodsell’s secretary.  The murals by the National Honor Society and the one in the cafeteria are being saved.

 Embarrassed

Since the shift in the demographics of the DISD it was a matter of time before it would go downhill.
Their culture was not our culture and they feel they don't need it.
Don't worry, even with it painted over it's still there and will live on in our memories.
Exactly why my children graduated from Wills Point High School where it still is Our Culture. 87% for the county.
